She Unlocked

Last night, I was behind schedule and nearly decided not to go. However, a small voice urged me to attend. While navigating through traffic on the NJ TPK, through the Holland Tunnel, and up W. Broadway, I reflected on who relies on me. It's not just my family; I'm also relying on myself! I'm doing this to demonstrate to myself that I am more than my circumstances.
After arriving at the parking deck 15 minutes before my reserved time and incurring an extra $35 fee for being early (only in NYC), I hurried so quickly up Houston that I feared I might tear my sandal straps, all to reach the Unlocked Experience event, which was in collaboration with the Tory Burch Foundation.
Arriving like a whirlwind—not a gentle breeze, but the kind that messes up your hairstyle when you open the car window—I found myself being directed to where I was supposed to be, an hour late. Feeling disoriented, I sat down in an available seat. The host then prompted me to introduce myself, catching me off guard. I decided to be honest with the group of accomplished women, admitting, "I'm not quite together or prepared to speak after rushing here." They understood, I smiled, and they extended grace to me.
Ultimately, I managed to participate in the round table and realized how grateful I was to attend this event. Why do I mention this? Because overcoming the obstacles was the challenge, and being there was the prize. Often, we struggle with ourselves over something, and that's precisely when we need to support ourselves by drawing strength from our innermost depths!
